DataDot Stock Manager Conquers Trans Baviaans

As one of South Africa’s premier mountain biking events – The Trans Baviaans Mountain Bike Event is a perfect combination of challenging cycling in beautiful scenery. Since its inception in 2004, the event has grown annually and should definitely be on any serious bikers’ wish list.

This was DataDot's Stock Manager Fransonette’s first attempt at the Trans Baviaans. Her team members – Billy Flattery and Jason Peach - had competed before. Stress levels were high one week before the race due to illness and team members withdrawing from the race, but somehow “The Rustlers” pulled it together and made it to the starting line. The first 100kms were difficult for Fransonette, but after forcing Rooster Brood, Peanut Butter and Jam down together with a gel, she thankfully found her rhythm and began to feel physically stronger. Before long they had caught up with at least 20 other teams and had made up a lot of time finishing 3 hours faster than what they had originally planned.

With cycling becoming such a popular sport in South Africa bicycle theft is now on the rise and expensive stolen bicycles seem to be destined for foreign markets.
